Welcome to Data Driven Cyclist.
We’re a group of amateur cyclists in our 50s who are passionate about two things: cycling and technology. Like many riders, we juggle our cycling around work, family, and everyday life, so making the most of the time we have on the bike is important to us.
Over the years, we’ve embraced the growing range of technology available to cyclists. From power meters and heart rate monitors to GPS computers, indoor trainers, smart training platforms, and AI-powered coaching tools, we’re fascinated by how data can help us ride smarter, train more effectively, and continue improving as we get older.
Data Driven Cyclist was created to share what we’ve learned along the way. Our goal is to provide honest, practical information about the technology, tools, and training methods that can help everyday cyclists get more from their riding. We write about platforms such as Zwift and Xert, Garmin devices, indoor training setups, cycling analytics, power-based training, and emerging technologies that are changing the sport.
We’re not professional cyclists, coaches, or elite athletes. We’re enthusiastic amateurs who enjoy experimenting with new technology, analysing our data, and finding ways to become fitter, faster, and more efficient on the bike. We understand the challenges faced by riders balancing cycling with the demands of everyday life because we’re doing exactly the same thing.
Whether you’re looking to understand your power data, choose the right cycling technology, improve your indoor training, or simply learn how to get more enjoyment from your rides, we hope you’ll find something useful here.
Our philosophy is simple: use data where it adds value, ignore unnecessary complexity, and focus on enjoying the ride.
Thanks for visiting, and we hope you’ll join us on the journey.
Happy riding!
